SLA Alignment Update: A Name Has Been Chosen!

This just in from SLA President Gloria Zamora:

The
Board earlier today voted on a new name for the association!  It will be
presented to the entire membership next week along with details about the voting
process.  All members will get a chance to vote on the name before the end of
the year.

Can’t wait to find out what they chose! The research of the alignment project has been absolutely fascinating and informative.

  2. Iris Anderson, 2009 Chair says:

Yes, this is VERY exciting; the alignment research confirms with evidence what most of us already knew or felt about our profession but perhaps were unprepared to act upon previously. Now we have to be brave by taking the first step and changing our name.
Brandy, from what you have written, it sounds as if there will be one choice for a yay or a nay vote by the membership – is that correct?

Yes, that is correct. The board has chosen one name to present to the membership and we will all vote yes or no on that one name. Details about voting will be released next week!
