Nancy Minter Wins 2007 Murray Wortzel Award

Indianapolis, IN: April 2, 2007 — The Social Science Division of the Special Libraries Association today named Nancy Minter winner of its biennial Thomson Gale™ Murray Wortzel Award for outstanding social science librarianship. Ms. Minter, Director of Library and Information Resources for the Urban Institute in Washington, DC, was selected in honor of her years of service to the Social Science Division and the library profession.

The Awards Committee specifically cited Nancy’s “tireless work in promoting the Social Science Division as Chair, Membership Chair, Fundraiser, and Program Planner,” noted her “exceptional fundraising skills,” and especially praised her mentoring of colleagues in the Division.  The Committee also recounted her service on several SLA committees and her advocacy of the profession of special librarianship.

The Thomson Gale™ Murray Wortzel Award is presented biennially by the Social Science Division at the Special Library Association’s annual conference. The Award was established by the Social Science Division in cooperation with Thomson Gale™ to honor the memory of Murray Wortzel, a long-time member of the Division whose dedication and commitment to both the Division and the Association exemplify the consummate information professional. The winner is presented with a cash gift sponsored by Thomson Gale™ and a citation.
